This one-of-a-kind unframed original pencil and ink drawing was created by New Orleans artist Emilie Rhys on March 30, 2014, during a live music performance at The Maison Nickel-a-Dance. From L-R in the Palm Court Jazz Band are Brian O'Connell, clarinet; Lionel Ferbos, bandleader and trumpet; Jamie Wight, cornet; and Wendell Eugene, trombone.
This was the final public performance by Mr. Ferbos, age 102. He passed away less than four months later on July 19, 2014, two days after celebrating his 103rd birthday.
The musicians will receive a cash commission from the sale of this artwork in which they are depicted.
