This one-of-a-kind original pencil, ink and gouache painting was created by New Orleans artist Emilie Rhys on October 29, 2023, during a live music performance at the Jazz Playhouse, Royal Sonesta Hotel. While most of the artist's live-music drawings are completed on the spot in the venue, some receive additional work, and in this case the paint was added at the artist's French Quarter art studio, utilizing the artist's signature blend of expressionism and pointillism.
It is on view at The Café at The Collection, located in the courtyard of The Historic New Orleans Collection, a museum in the French Quarter at 520 Royal Street. Hours are Tues - Sat, 9:30am--4:30pm; Sun, 10:30-4:30; closed Mondays.
Ms. Lynell will receive a cash commission from the sale of this artwork in which she is depicted.
