This one-of-a-kind original acrylic painting was created by New Orleans artist Emilie Rhys in Santa Fe, NM in 1997, part of a large series of Western-themed artworks created by the artist from the time of her first visit to Santa Fe in 1988, and continuing through to 2001.
The source for the painting was a historic photo by William Stinson Soule, taken circa 1869-1874. Kiowa Chief Tomeatho (Trailing the Enemy) is shown with his wife Ahtohna, eldest daughter of Satanta.
