“Tony Domino—Atelier Portrait“

This one-of-a-kind original oil on copper painting was created by New Orleans artist Emilie Rhys in July 2019, during two live portrait sessions (July 6 and 17) at the artist's French Quarter art studio. It is painted on a copper sheet specially prepared by the artist, using etching tools to incise the surface. This enhances the final image by providing randomly-derived surface texture.
Mr. Domino is an opera singer, and also is a grandson of the legendary R&B icon Fats Domino. At the time he posed for this painting, he was still studying classical music performance at Loyola University, and later attended Rice University to complete his studies.
Mr. Domino received a cash commission from the sale of this artwork in which he is depicted.
