This one-of-a-kind unframed original pencil and ink drawing was created by New Orleans artist Emilie Rhys on March 8, 2017, during a live music performance at Prime Example Jazz Club. Poet/Rapper Denzel Ashton Holliday observes pianist/bandleader Jesse McBride perform.
McBride's 2013-2018 weekly Wednesday night musical residency at Prime Example served as a training ground for young musicians, whom he mentored as "The Next Generation," in tribute to his own mentor, the legendary musician/composer/record label owner/arranger/educator Harold Battiste, Jr.
Mr. Holliday and Mr. McBride will receive a cash commission from the sale of this artwork in which they are depicted.
