This one-of-a-kind unframed original pencil and ink drawing was created by New Orleans artist Emilie Rhys, from a historic photo, on October 2, 2016 at the Hotel Elysee in New York City.

The artist, while visiting NYC on vacation, often sat in the hotel library and chose a book with photographs of art or historic photos from which to draw. This drawing was to try out the composition for a future painting. It shows children in 1918 viewing the toppled head of a statue in Moscow, part of a monument to the Emperor Alexander III.
