Pianist Jesse McBride is depicted leading this band Jesse McBride Presents The Next Generation. His 2013-2018 weekly Wednesday night musical residency at Prime Example served as a training ground for young musicians, whom he mentored as "The Next Generation," in tribute to his own mentor, the legendary musician/composer/record label owner/arranger/educator Harold Battiste, Jr.
